Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been revealed as the Premier League footballer allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London last month.
The incident reportedly took place on 6 September in Cockfosters, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend during the international break. Police were called, and a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, blackmail, and driving without a licence.
No injuries were reported, and there is no suggestion the agent involved represents Udogie. The suspect has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
A Tottenham spokesperson said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
Udogie, who was not on Italy duty at the time, returned to action the following week, coming off the bench in Spurs’ league win over West Ham on 13 September.
