Chanel turned its latest Paris haute couture show into a magical fairytale as the fashion house presented a collection inspired by classic stories and the life of its founder, Coco Chanel. The runway featured giant flowers, dreamlike sets, and detailed designs that celebrated imagination while introducing fresh fashion trends for the new season.
The show opened with a model wearing a sheer mousseline skirt suit embroidered with delicate silk beanstalks. She carried a small leather-bound book of fairytales that once belonged to Coco Chanel. The runway setting featured oversized poppies and lupins, creating the feeling of walking through a fantasy world.
Every look told part of a story. One dress had buttons that began with the image of an ugly duckling and ended with a swan. A handbag was shaped like a sleeping golden bear, inspired by the story of Goldilocks. Another jacket featured a hand-painted lining based on the classic tale of Puss in Boots.
Creative director Matthieu Blazy said the biggest inspiration was not a fairy tale but the remarkable journey of Coco Chanel herself. He described her rise from a difficult childhood to becoming one of the world’s most influential fashion designers as the greatest story behind the collection. He said her designs were always made for real women and reflected everyday life rather than fantasy alone.
The runway also celebrated women of different ages. Model Stephanie marked her 50th birthday by walking in a sparkling red sequined dress. Blazy said he enjoyed seeing experienced models share the runway with younger faces. He added that the exchange between generations creates a special atmosphere both on and off the catwalk.
The traditional bridal look, which usually closes a couture show, appeared earlier in the presentation. Instead, the final look was a simple black dress. Blazy said the ending honored Coco Chanel, who never married, making the elegant black dress a fitting tribute to her legacy.
While the collection included dramatic couture pieces, Blazy said his main focus remains everyday fashion. He explained that clothing should fit into daily life rather than exist only for major events. He said fashion should be practical enough to pack into a suitcase while still making people feel confident.
That idea appeared throughout the collection. Some jackets featured hand-embroidered details that looked like yellow sticky notes with shopping lists and daily reminders. The creative touch highlighted the beauty found in ordinary life while showing the craftsmanship of Chanel’s skilled artisans.
The collection also introduced trends that may influence fashion beyond the couture runway. Sheer fabrics appeared in many outfits, layered over structured undergarments to create light and modern looks. Flowing skirt suits replaced more structured styles, while soft pastel shades such as lilac and mint added fresh color after several seasons dominated by neutral tones.
Fashion experts noted similarities between some of the silhouettes shown during recent haute couture presentations in Paris. The relaxed tailoring and transparent layers suggest that these styles could become key trends in upcoming luxury collections.
Chanel president of fashion Bruno Pavlovsky praised the presentation and described it as one of the strongest couture shows produced by the fashion house. He said the storytelling behind the collection helped create a memorable experience for guests and highlighted the strength of Chanel’s creative direction.
Pavlovsky also said customer demand remains strong following Blazy’s arrival. Chanel boutiques have seen growing interest, especially for the brand’s newer “25” handbag, which has quickly become one of the company’s most sought-after accessories alongside its classic designs.
As demand continues to grow, Chanel is working to expand and train its skilled workforce in Paris. Pavlovsky said the company remains focused on women’s fashion and has no plans to expand into menswear, restaurants, or other luxury businesses. He added that Chanel’s priority is to continue creating high-quality fashion for women while preserving the craftsmanship that has defined the brand for generations.
