NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte joined international leaders in Paris for a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, where continued support for Ukraine remained the main focus. The gathering brought together senior European leaders to discuss military assistance, defense cooperation, and long-term security efforts as the conflict in Ukraine continues.
The meeting was co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also attended the discussions, highlighting Ukraine’s ongoing cooperation with its international partners.
During the meeting, Rutte emphasized that supporting Ukraine remains one of NATO’s highest priorities. He said Allied countries continue to stand behind Ukraine as it works to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence.
The discussions followed last week’s NATO Summit, where member countries reaffirmed their long-term commitment to Ukraine. NATO allies agreed to continue providing military assistance, training, and defense equipment to strengthen the country’s security capabilities.
According to NATO, member nations have committed to delivering €70 billion in military equipment, assistance, and training for Ukraine this year. Allies also pledged to provide at least the same level of support in 2027, reflecting their continued commitment to Ukraine’s defense.
Rutte also addressed the recent missile and drone attacks on Kyiv. He encouraged NATO members and partner countries to continue supplying air defense systems and missile defense capabilities to help Ukraine protect its cities, critical infrastructure, and civilian population.
He stressed that strengthening Ukraine’s air and missile defense remains an important priority as security challenges continue. He also called for deeper cooperation between Allied countries and Ukraine’s domestic defense industry to improve long-term military production and support.
Alongside the Coalition of the Willing meeting, Rutte also attended a session of the Anti Ballistic Missile Coalition. The meeting included President Zelenskyy and President Macron and focused on improving missile defense cooperation and strengthening regional security.
The coalition continues to explore ways to expand defensive capabilities against ballistic missile threats while supporting Ukraine’s broader security needs. Participants discussed coordination between partner countries and future defense initiatives designed to improve collective protection.
International cooperation has remained central to Ukraine’s defense strategy since the beginning of the conflict. NATO member states and partner countries continue providing military equipment, training programs, financial assistance, and humanitarian support.
Officials said close coordination among allies remains essential as security conditions evolve. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining long-term assistance while helping Ukraine strengthen its own defense capabilities.
The Paris meeting reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts to coordinate international support and ensure continued cooperation among NATO members and partner nations. Leaders continue to meet regularly to review military assistance, security developments, and future defense planning.
The Coalition of the Willing has become an important forum for discussing practical measures that support Ukraine while strengthening cooperation among participating countries. Defense officials continue to examine ways to improve military readiness and expand assistance programs.
As the security situation develops, NATO leaders say they remain committed to working together with international partners to support Ukraine’s defense and promote stability across Europe. Further discussions and coordination are expected as member countries continue implementing the commitments announced during the recent NATO summit.
